At the end of May, our music teacher, Susan Roberts, will be saying, “Good bye!” after 29 years of teaching music.

Mrs. Roberts has taught at the elementary, middle school and high school level, band and choir but her passion is teaching the kids right here at Pinedale. It has been a wonder-filled 11 years here! She has also taught in California, Colorado and Nebraska. Even though she’s only taught music, her Master’s Degree is in English as a Second Language. Actually, teaching music is like teaching a new language with symbols and terms unique to music. She loves to play her world flutes, piano, sing and act. She sang her first solo right before turning 3, “The Muffin Man” (for church). Her husband has been a pastor and currently program director for Life INC. in Rapid City. She has 5 children and 19 grandchildren (I’ll bet you can’t guess what she’ll do when she retires.) She’d like to leave you fabulous Pinedale families with this quote:

“You have a singing voice, a fine one, but it is not the only voice you possess. There is a voice deep inside you, one that tells you what is right and what is wrong. This is the voice to which you must listen most closely.”

Bless you all.

Mrs. Roberts
